Multiple states have banned player prop betting on NCAA college sports. The latest state to ban this is Ohio. Ohio State is one of the schools with the largest following in the nation.
The ban is to protect college athletes, who really are kids, from getting threats. Already players have gotten threats for causing their team to lose the game but now with player props it has gotten even more intense.
There was some objection to this, includuing the loss of sports betting revenue. It has been said that just 1.35% of betting revenue in Ohio came from these props.
